"A Solidarity Image" raises 4,500 euros to support Gaticão

"A Solidarity Image" raises 4,500 euros to support Gaticão
Currently, the association takes in around 200 animals, including dogs and cats.

The most recent edition of the “Uma Imagem Solidária” initiative ended with the raising of 4,500 euros for the Gaticão association, in Aveiro, according to the organization, which for years has been exchanging photographs for donations to support institutions.

In the 8th initiative, which took place on May 28, several entities participated, such as the animal products brand Purina, which offered 4,500 meals to Gaticão - Associação dos Amigos dos Animais Abandonados, a non-profit entity that collects abandoned animals in the municipality of Vagos, in Aveiro.

This year, the initiative once again had the high sponsorship of the Presidency of the Republic, in addition to the Lusa agency, the Portuguese Communications Foundation, Dell Technologies, Colorfoto, FinePrint, TunetRadio, Guache Condomínios, Logotexto and Visapress.

The Public Security Police (PSP) also participated, providing some photographs. TRN - Rodoviária Nacional e Internacional joined the event, which had actor Isaac Alfaiate as its sponsor.

Created in 2017 by Lusa photojournalist António Cotrim, the “Uma Imagem Solidária” initiative brings together photojournalists and photographers in a solidarity action, which consists of donating a photograph, which will then be purchased by the public, in exchange for a minimum donation of 20 euros, which goes to an association.
